"The great alchemists, whose ultimate aspiration was to procure the birth of a divinity among men found it necessary first to invoke within themselves the spirit they wished to share with others. In the same tradition Plato wrote that the man who aquires the art of stereometry, the likening of unlike things which is function of the canon, sanctifies not only himself but also the city and the age in which he lives. The thought behind these various expressions was that the state of a society is determined by the individuals who comprise it; that the cosmic influences are manifest on earth through the medium of the human mind, and this is the instrument by which they may be controlled and held in balance. For the instument to be effective, it requires that the individual become aware of the current influences to which he is subject, and to this end the canon was devised; for by analogy with the dynamics of geometrical and numerological relationships, the world of phenomena is revealed as the product of archetyple forces, whose behaviour in any circumstances is predicatable once the nature is understood."

QUESTION
Who Invented the compass?
THE compass appeared in China during, the Han dynasty in the second to first century BC, but its purpose was not navigational: it was used in a particular type of fortune-telling called geomancy
This is the art of throwing handfuls of small rocks, gravel and sand to see what sort of pattern they form when they land and then interpreting that pattern to foretell the future.
It was discovered that a form of magnetised rock called a lodestone, which is a form of the mineral magnetite, tended to
align itself on a north-south axis.
This magnetic property was later incorporated into other fortune telling devices similar to Ouija boards. From this developed the idea of aligning your house in certain directions, the art we know as feng-shui.
It was later discovered that by stroking a piece of metal, perhaps a needle-like sliver, with a lodestone the magnetic properties would be transferred to the needle. When the needle is floated on the meniscus (concave curve on top of a liquid) in a bowl of water it will point north-south.
This is an experiment children still conduct in science classes and is the origin of the navigational compass.
There is a theory that in Mesoamerica, now Central America, the tribes used similar techniques as far back as 1000 BC, but this has not been verified.
The Chinese appear to have started to use a compass for navigation in the 9th or 10th centuries AD.
The skill of making magnetic compasses was transferred to Europe, probably by Arab traders, and starts to appear in the late 12th century, where they are recorded for the first time in the texts De utensilibus and De naturis rerum, written between 1187 and 1202.
It may have been about this time that the Norse were given credit for the use of compasses as an explanation for their apparent seafaring skills.
However, there is no proof they discovered the compass and their navigational -prowess may have had more to do with their knowledge of the cosmos and the prevailing winds.

Some archaeological discoveries are heralded with much fanfare; others, for various reasons, are not. Among this latter category must be included the thick and extensive layer of sheet mica found sandwiched between two of the upper levels of the Teotihuacan Pyramid of the Sun when it was being probed for restoration in 1906. The lack of interest which greeted this discovery, and the absence of any follow-up studies to determine its possible function is quite understandable because the mica, which had a considerable commercial value, was removed and sold as soon as it had been excavated. The culprit was apparently Leopoldo Bartres, who had been commissioned to restore the time-worn pyramid by the Mexican government.1
There has also been a much more recent discovery of mica at Teotihuacan (in the 'Mica Temple') and this too has passed almost without notice. Here the reason is harder to explain because there has been no looting and the mica remains on site.2
One of a group of buildings, the Mica Temple is situated around a patio about 1000 feet south of the west face of the Pyramid of the Sun. Directly under a floor paved with heavy rock slabs, archaeologists financed by the Viking Foundation excavated two massive sheets of mica which had been carefully and purposively installed at some extremely remote date by a people who must have been skilled in /Page 189/
cutting and handling this material. The sheets are ninety feet square and form two layers, one laid directly on top of the other.3

Ra—Atum, the god who created himself, was originally king over gods and men together but mankind schemed against his sovereignty, for he began to grow old, his bones became silver, his flesh gold and his hair [as] lapis lazuli.23
When he realized what was happening, the ageing Sun God (so reminiscent of Tonatiuh, the bloodthirsty Fifth Sun of the Aztecs) determined that he would punish this insurrection by killing off most of the human race. The instrument of the havoc he unleashed was symbolized at times as a raging lioness wading in blood and at times as the fearsome lion-headed goddess Sekhmet who 'poured fire out of herself' and savaged mankind in an ecstasy of slaughter.24

Mica is a not a uniform substance but contains trace elements of different metals depending on the kind of rock formation in which it is found. Typically these metals include potassium and aluminium and also, in varying quantities, ferrous and ferric iron, magnesium, lithium, manganese and titanium. The trace elements in Teotihuacan's Mica Temple indicate that the underfloor sheets belong to a type which occurs only in Brazil, some 2000 miles away.4 Clearly, therefore, the builders of the Temple must have had a specific need for this particular kind of mica and were prepared to go to considerable lengths to obtain it, otherwise they could have used the locally available variety more cheaply and simply.
Mica does not leap to mind as an obvious general-purpose flooring material. Its use to form layers underneath a floor, and thus completely out of sight, seems especially bizarre when we remember that no other ancient structure in the Americas, or anywhere else in the world, has been found to contain a feature like this.5
It is frustrating that we will never be able to establish the exact position, let alone the purpose, of the large sheet that Bartres excavated and removed from the Pyramid of the Sun in 1906. The two intact layers in the Mica Temple, on the other hand, resting as they do in a place where they had no decorative function, look as though they were designed to do a particular job. Let us note in passing that mica possesses characteristics which suit it especially well for a range of technological applications. In modern industry, it is used in the construction of capacitors and is valued as a thermal and electric insulator. It is also opaque to fast neutrons and can act as a moderator in nuclear reactions.

Having climbed more than 200 feet up a series of flights of stone stairs I reached the summit and looked towards the zenith. It was midday 19 May, and the sun was directly overhead, as it would be again on 25 /Page 190/
July. On these two dates, and not by accident, the west face of the pyramid was oriented precisely to the position of the setting sun.6
A more curious but equally deliberate effect could be observed on the equinoxes, 20 March and 22 September. Then the passage of the sun's rays from south to north resulted at noon in the progressive obliteration of a perfectly straight shadow that ran along one of the lower stages of the western facade. The whole process, from complete shadow to complete illumination, took exactly 66.6 seconds. It had done so without fail, year-in year-out, ever since the pyramid had been built and would continue to do so until the giant edifice crumbled into dust.7
What this meant, of course, was that at least one of the many functions of the pyramid had been to serve as a 'perennial clock', precisely signalling the equinoxes and thus facilitating calendar corrections as and when necessary for a people apparently obsessed, like the Maya, with the elapse and measuring of time. Another implication was that the master-builders of Teotihuacan must have possessed an enormous body of astronomic and geodetic data and referred to this data to set the Sun Pyramid at the precise orientation necessary to achieve the desired equinoctial effects.

I moved into the centre of the King's Chamber, the long axis of which was perfectly oriented east to west while the short axis was equally perfectly oriented north to south. The room was exactly 19 feet i inch in height and formed a precise two-by-one rectangle measuring 34 feet 4 inches long by 17 feet z inches wide. With a floor consisting of 15 massive granite paving stones, and walls composed of roo gigantic granite blocks, each weighing 7o tons or more and laid in five courses, and with a ceiling spanned by nine further granite blocks each weighing aproximately 50 tons,4 the effect was of intense and overwhelming compression.

That object, carved out of one piece of dark chocolate-coloured granite containing peculiarly hard granules of feldspar, quartz and mica, was the lidless coffer presumed to have been the sarcophagus of Khufu.5 Its interior measurements were 6 feet 6.6 inches in length, 2 feet 10.42 inches in depth, and 2 feet 2.81 inches in width. Its exterior measurements were 7 feet 5.62 inches in length, 3 feet 5.31 inches in depth, and 3 feet 2.5 inches in width 6 an inch too wide, incidentally, for it to have been carried up through the lower (and now plugged) entrance to the ascending corridor.7
Some routine mathematical games were built into the dimensions of the sarcophagus. For example, it had an internal volume of 1166.4 litres and an external volume of exactly twice that 2332.8 litres.8 Such a precise coincidence could not have been arrived at accidentally: the walls of the coffer had been cut to machine-age tolerances by craftsmen of enormous skill and experience. It seemed, moreover, as Flinders Petrie admitted with some puzzlement after completing his painstaking survey of the Great Pyramid, that these craftsmen had access to tools 'such as we ourselves have only now reinvented . . .'9

"My children, I have long awaited these end times, as you refer to them, for this most precious planet. I have sorrowed much over the travesties of this planetary experience. Mother Earth has been shedding many tears over the many eons of time, time that she has made Herself available for this expression of creation.
She so desires for these end times to be completed that her sorrow radiates back to Me, with what you might consider much pain. I too am pleased about that which is to follow in terms of her release from this pain.
I, too, desire all of mankind to understand that which is to come to pass. I, too, want all of mankind to understand the meaning of this pain which the planet has withstood for so long in order that mankind could play out its fantasies. NOW WE MUST ALL MOVE ON.
I have called and commissioned you to proceed forward with your work, establishing the end occurrences as they must come according to the grand plan. I have asked that you go forward to cleansing from this planet that which she desires to have removed from her. We have asked that you have a consciousness of those who have chosen their own will over Mine, and that you have a sense of their right place.
I so care for all My children that I have prepared a home for even those who reject My Presence in their life experiences. I am of course saddened by their unwillingness to accept that I am the Father, but this is fine, as they most certainly will desire My Presence once they have lived any length of time in the darkness. I am sorrow / Page 31 / ful that this has to come to pass but so be it.
You, My loving Ones, will be graciously received at My table as the Feast is now being prepared. I have made great plans for this Celebration and will not rest not a day until this Feast comes to pass. I give My Thanks to you, for your devotion to My plan for that which you call planet Earth. I have been grateful for all that you have done and welcome you home when that time comes. I remain with you always. Your loving Father/Mother God.

1. I AM THE FATHER OF ALL CREATION. I AM THE BEGINNING AND THE END, THE ALPHA AND OMEGA OF ALL THAT IS AND EVER SHALL BE. I CONTINUE NOW IN OUR CONVERSATIONS FOR THE BENEFIT OF MY CHILDREN EVERYWHERE.
2. The studies and deductions along with the discussions of My Sons Jesus and Michael with you have been most interesting to Me. These various questions in your mind truly represent the motivation present in this work we do. This portion of the named Holy Book is so riddled with these errors under discussion, there barely remains enough time to unravel them.
3. You have finally located in your search the only passage or use of the number 666 in the entire written record. In vain did you search for another, for no other corresponding witness exists anywhere. For it is here at this point in the record (Rev. 13:18) that the perversion of this number made entry, calculated and deliberate in its destructive intent. In the (four) references to this subject that follow, the number becomes a mark that is not My Seal. The few references that follow go on to expand the prized lie that it is the "mark of the beast" and even that it appears in the forehead as well as the hand. Once an awareness is born of these interferences and the motive, the entire proposal is clearly exposed.
4. The number 999 is identified as truly of My Kingdom. It represents a Divine number of the Creation of Life itself in this and other Universes. This is a widely known fact in other worlds. It is a code number within the consciousness of many who have come to / Page 32 / this planet to serve the Father, and who are actual extensions of My Self. To disguise this number as a mark of the Fallen ones has diabolically and thoroughly confused the souls of this planet, but it was easily accomplished by another source simply by inverting the number upside down.
5. My Daughter, there is a great need for Us to unfold this story, to surface it in human minds to assist with the mass confusion which will surface regardless. So many have long waited the fulfillment of the prophecy concerning the mark of the beast. I have made provisions for this lesson to come forth. It is unfortunate that the lesson will be played out to the detriment of those who have changed its meaning and representation. For this is actually the mark of the Great Eternal Ones and not that of the Fallen Ones. This distortion will play havoc for those without proper intunement within and for whom discernment is outside their personal experience. It will be denounced by religious zealots who are programmed to biblical writings but without soul discernment. The confusion soon to follow for My Children will be of such abnormality many will be prevented from moving into higher realms of expression.
6. Numbers are identities used widely in the upper realms. Even worlds, planets, are coded by number and not by name upon the great monitoring boards of My Flying Brotherhood. Yes 999 is the number of a man as written, but it is not as originally written. The number was written by, recorded by, another who feigned the mind and thought of the Messenger. Beyond that time there were many other rewritings of the words and many versions with opportunities for revision. At the time, there existed strong sensitivity to the existence of an army of darkness with its certain great leader, whom they chose to call Satan. The system was formulated and elaborated upon by the priests and scribes of this Devil, out of their intense desire to have control of the people in their influence upon them. Ignorance and bigotry fueled the plan. For endless centuries My People did not have access to this written transcription nor the spirituality to receive for themselves. The record remained unchallenged. Only the priesthood had access to the holy writings and to the possibility of changing them as they desired. In the earliest centuries of the church, the writings were tampered with to imply that the mark was of a negative application and an identity of those of darkness.

7. I ask My Light Workers to realize that neither the dark ones nor the Fallen ones need an identifying mark, because they cannot hide themselves nor their ways from the discerning Child of Light. It is indeed by their works that ye know them.
8. Three identifying insignias are engraved within My Children: in the heart, the flame of Love; in the membrane of the hand, the number of Creation; in the head, the shining morning star. It has been written that without the mark of the beast, neither shall any man buy nor sell. This is consistent with that which has been given, for the nines of My Kingdom will not be involved in the buy and sell for their needs, for money will cease to exist. One's wants and needs shall be provided by My Hand as is proper, so that buying and selling will fade away in the new scheme of things. The plan of the Fallen ones to thus make a degenerated mark upon My Children was an ingenious one. For now in the closing days as I prepare to lift the veil, there is the sad possibility of misjudgment of the Light.
9. Therefore I call upon My Enlightened Teachers to bring forth this exposure in time for end time events. Some uninformed Lighted Ones will even classify the exposure itself as being of the Fallen ones but My Sons Michael and the Beloved One are with you to guide you through the jungle of human opinion. There will be no more martyrs. The plan has been set aside. No more blood shall be shed for Truth. Man has Truth on his own hands from this time forward; it will not dissolve by removing its source.
10. When this My revelation concerning the number 999 goes forth, it will be the Bible worshippers who will bring the fiercest opposition and not the Light Workers or My volunteers of these times. The crystallization of this concept is so embedded within souls that there will be no hope of delivering them from it as long as they cling to the old thought forms. The sense of Satan is an indoctrination that spans too many centuries of time. It is even more solidified than the concept of the substitutionary scapegoat atonement of My Son. In too many movements only an entirely new incarnation will accomplish the removal of these perversions of My Divine Plan.
11. I state once again, though I repeat my words, this sacred number is used throughout My Kingdom to identify My Creation. It does NOT designate those who are not of the Light. Only those who carry this insignia are able to enter into the higher realms. They are / Page 34 / capable because they have earned this mark. No mark exists for those who have not earned the right to enter. I AM determined to shed Light upon this error in biblical presentation concerning the number 666. This heavenly number is placed within the membrane in order that it be preserved for the entire incarnation. Without it, those who would desire to evolve into the higher realms would not be enabled to do so. This distortion was created within the inner realms because the dark forces would like those identified with the mark of God, to be removed by the lessor forces of their making. Thus they would like it to be believed that the mark represents the beast when in fact the beast is already known to be that of the dark forces themselves. The beast needs no further identification, for his presence is obvious in all that is not of the Light. I AM the Father of My Creation. I will not ever allow My Children to be branded in any physical way. This is not within the consciousness of mankind and it shall not come to pass. It will be known that this holy number (666999) is of My Making, in identifying My Children, throughout My Kingdom.
12. This is the number of those who will be entering into the ninth dimension after their mission is over. It is a most unusual number in the sense that it cannot be reversed in any way. It is that which it is. The fact that it is presented upside down is another way of identifying the touch of the dark forces upon it. The number 666-999 is only for those who are of the highest evolved state, who if taken out of their mission would not be able to support the transformation process and thereby would leave without completing the mission. The dark forces would have no problems ruling over this planet if they could remove those who bear this number as prescribed in the biblical record. The reversal of the number has no significance whatsoever in the higher realms. The number always equates to nine however it is facing. This will be the code that will be exposed, for the number nine is the highest level of completion before entering into the dimension of total spirit, at which point numbers become another part of the being itself. Numbers are then no longer necessary for understanding the Universe when passed beyond all dimensions. The reason that thorough understanding of this distortion is so vital is that in the final days there will be many who are capable of seeing this marking in those who walk in great Light. Without / Page 35 / knowledge, the marking will therefore create the potential for those capable of seeing it, to dismiss that Light Worker as being of the dark ones. Therefore the dark forces pit the LIGHT AGAINST THE LIGHT and bring forth in depth confusion. Remember, the dark ones do not have a numerical reference so it is not necessary to evaluate any number within their being.
13. But My concern for My Loving Children goes beyond number. It also carries with it the Codings to bring forth the true identity of the Light Worker. As long as there remains distortion in understanding this, there will be a distortion in the awakening of that one seeking the Light. This is why the Dark Forces were prone to make this a part of the puzzle of prophecy which would further complicate the understanding of those in the Light, as well as those who would be grounded in the distortion, and not in the understanding of the higher truths.
14. I welcome My Children to seek My Face and listen for My Voice to bring forth from within their own being a clearer understanding of all of these things. The Father hath spoken with you.
Anti Christ? Father's Reply Part 7
1. I AM the Father Mother Creator, of All that is, to continue our conversations to be shared with My Children.
2. As we penetrate deeply into the errors that have been placed with humanity, I desire at this time to discuss the Being termed in your scriptures as Lucifer. Because of Jehovah's intent to distort all Truth, it naturally follows that he would carefully plot to defame the Highest of My Shining Angels. With the attention of the religious world upon his perverted words, he took One of the Great Ones, The Eternal Being of Light, and named him Lucifer and made him to be a being of darkness and a vessel of evil.
3. Lucifer is the Angel of Light, the Morning Star, and is not, nor will he ever be anything else. Lucifer has embodied upon Earth many times to support My Plan and to offset the forces brought forth by Jehovah. Why then would Jehovah not choose to show My Son Lucifer as one of the Fallen ones when in fact he is not.
4. The number 666 (999) is that of Lucifer certainly, but it is Lucifer who comes to save the planet from the destructive forces of / Page 36 / Jehovah. The Dark Ones took the highest of the number of the Universe, the Holy 999, and reversed its posture and gave the number into this demented character of defied evil and called him Devil. This sacred number, which is embedded within every Lighted Being, Jehovah perverted to mean the number of this Imaginary Devil. We of the Universal Creative Forces do not need to number the Fallen ones to identify them, for they are exposed for all to see and are known to all men. We DO number our Angels and Beings of Enlightenment with the Sacred number of Light, 999 which remains 9 regardless of how the number is manipulated or broken (6+6+6=18=9; 9+9+9=28=9) 999 is the number of My Saints, the number of My Kingdom, and the Glorious New Earth. THERE IS NO BEAST, THERE IS NO DEVIL, THERE IS NO ANTI-CHRIST FOR CHRIST FORCE DOES NOT NEED AN OPPOSITE.
S. Lucifer, so called, a beloved son, has come to Earth by many names, but the names are not important here. What is important is that he bears MY Standard of Light and Truth, to advance Harmony and Balance within humanity.
6. It is My Will at this time, that the secret of this "mark" or number be released. It has been kept from My Children when they have accepted words that have no truth. Each energy force projected from the Source represents a mathematical relationship to Me, sum marized in a number. This mark of which we speak is one such, energy which has been projected. It will be obvious and clear to those who know this mark who it is that is carrying it within his genetic makeup, and clear to all of those who see. It will surface within the minds of Light Workers, for they will know that it is I who comes to them with this mark. There will be a clear knowingness that the mark of 999 (666) resides within this individual. The confusion will arise as a result of this Being representing himself as one who comes in the Name of My Energies.
7. Do not confuse this as any reference to an Anti-Christ. THERE IS NO SUCH THING. This representation in the biblical sense was trying to refer to the Fallen One who was instrumental in setting up this process whereby polarities could be experienced. As a result of this misunderstanding the Anti-Christ concept came into being in terms of one's attempt to understand events in heaven worlds. The Anti-Christ was proposed to be the opposite of Christ, / Page 37 / but Christ has no opposite, understand this! THE LIGHT DOES NOT NEED THE DARKNESS NOR DOES LOVE NEED AN OPPOSITE IN ORDER TO BE.
8. So much misunderstanding has prevailed through many ages with biblical teachings to foster control of mankind within the context of socalled religious freedom. "ACROSS the world, millions of women are due to give birth tomorrow. Apart from the usual understandable concerns about whether their baby will be born healthy, many will also be feeling nervous about the date itself.
According to folklore, June 6, 2006 - or 6/6/06 - signifies the Number of the Beast. In the Book of Revelation, this date heralds the birth of the Antichrist (whose number is 666) and the beginning of the end of the world.
Throughout history, many have predicted Armageddon. But it was Jesus's favourite disciple, John the Evangelist, who, while held as a prisoner on the Aegean island of Patmos around AD96, wrote of the Apocalypse - a vision of the end of the world so terrible it has haunted Man's imagination ever since.
Now, with typical Hollywood hype, 20th Century Fox has cynically decided to take advantage of tomorrow's sinister date to launch its remake of the Seventies horror film The Omen.
The original featured the satanic boy Damien. The new version relates how the child of the American ambassador to Britain is the Antichrist, who is set to become the ruler of civilisation and precipitate Man's final battle.
Now you might feel that since the Bible predicts the Antichrist will lose that final struggle, the rest of us - even those mothers of children born tomorrow - have nothing to worry about. But the Bible also tells us that most of us will perish in the coming disaster.
St John's Book of Revelation was intended to assure Christians that Jesus would return and triumph over the Antichrist. These events, he said, would happen in a precise sequence.
First, there would be mighty earthquakes and natural catastrophes that would continue for seven years.
Some people believe the earthquake that triggered the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004, the Pakistani earthquake in 2005 and last month's Indonesian earthquake ominously fit this pattern.
Another sign would be a great disaster that would descend from the heavens - that sounds alarmingly like an asteroid strike.
THE EARTH has about ten near-misses a year, and the last one, in June 2002, passed us by a mere 75,000 miles.
If it had struck, it would have devastated 120,000 square miles - comparable to the asteroid that exploded over Siberia in 1908.
St John predicts the Earth will then be blighted by wars, famine and pestilence caused by the opening of the Book of Seven Seals, an act representing God's final judgment on mankind.
When God opens the Book of Seven Seals, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse would suddenly be released.
While all this has been going on, the human race will have failed to observe the arrival of the Antichrist.
No one will notice, for the simple reason that, far from seeming menacing, he will be charming and charismatic, and will be mmensely popular.
In fact, he is the Devil in disguise, and his purpose is to turn us into his slaves.
Like Adolf Hitler, he will be hailed as a saviour, and vast armies will march at his command. It is this world dictator who will initiate the battle of Armageddon.
He is, says the Book of Revelation, the Beast, and his number is 666. Hence the symbolism of tomorrow's date - the first time it has occurred in its simplest form since before the Norman Conquest.
In Hebrew, each of the 22 letters in its alphabet is associated with a number, and wotds can be interpreted according to their number code.
Therefore, the letters of the unknown Beast's name will add up to 666. And, of course, June 6, 2006, would seem to be the obvious date for the birth of the Devil child.
However, according to the story, just as the Beast is about to win the battle, the heavens will open, fire will devour his army, and he will be hurled back into the pit, where he belongs.
But by then, most of us will have perished.
And when is all this due to happen?
The answer, you will be relieved to hear, is that the time is long past.
John had been present when Jesus told his disciples: 'There are some standing here today who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom' (Matthew 16:28). Which meant, of course, within their lifetime - so in the first century AD.
When John wrote the Book of Revelation, he was expecting the end of the world any day.
After the year 100 came and went, Christian theologians quickly recalculated and said the end of the world would take place in the year 1000. And again, it did not happen.
So who was the 'original' Beast 666? Almost certainly it was Nero, the emperor who tortured and killed so many Christians. The Hebrew letters of Caesar Nero add up to 666.
According to one recent theory, St John had a more. important reason for choosing the number 666.
In 1989, the scientist Maurice Cotterell fed into the giant computer at Cranfield University some long numbers he had found in the ancient religious calendar of the Maya of Mexico, and realised these early people understood the complex sun cycles that govern life on Earth.
All life is carbon-based, and the carbon atom contains six electrons, six protons and six neutrons.
He went on to discover that several other ancient religions, including those of Egypt, China and Peru, also knew about this science of the sun, in which 666 plays a central role. Cotterell found the same numbers, looking like the sixes on a digital clock, engraved in a maze pattern on the Ardagh Chalice, Ireland's foremost treasure, which was found by two men digging for potatoes.
In his book The Celtic Chronicles, he explains why he believes the chalice is the Holy Grail, from which Christ drank at the Last Supper.
He says it was brought to England in AD60 by Joseph of Arimathea, and was engraved with the number 666 and other symbols by King Arthur in the fifth century.
It was taken to the monastery at Lindisfarne in the seventh century, and was hidden by the monks, to save it from Viking raiders. Somehow, it then made its way to Ireland.
Cotterell's. decoding shows the chalice contains the same basic knowledge he uncovered during his research into the culture of the Mayans, China, Egypt and Peru.
So though the Book of Revelation may seem to the modem mind to be a bewildering farrago of strange and violent images, Cotterell believes its central puzzle, 666, refers to the carbon atom, which St John intended to symbolise our material world.
SINCE Jesus refers to himself in the Book of Revelation as 'the bright morning star' Venus, which symbolises light - our world of matter is symbolised by the number of the Devil, 666.
The makers of the new Omen movie hope to add an extra dimension to all this history of dread and foreboding.
Indeed, they have been helped by the Dean of Guildford Cathedral, where the original 1976 movie was set.
He has issued a scathing attack on the movie and said the cathedral suffered a fall in visitor numbers after a wedding - when Damien flew into a rage - was portrayed there.
Mankind has always been haunted by the concept of the Apocalypse. But for any mother giving birth tomorrow and fearing the worst, I suggest she should help ward off potential evil by following the traditional custom of devouring a charcoal biscuit."

A PASSAGE IN THE Book of Revelations suggest the number 666 is the mark of the devil. Many experts reckon It's.a coded reference to a Roman emperor. They also think the Original number was 616 and the middle digit was accidentally misread by a short-sighted scholar during a candlelit, manuscript-copying session. On 06.06.1906, nothing much happened, and nobody notorious was bom. June 6, 1806 passed without incident, too. So, unless you suffer from hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia (fear of the number 666) there's no need to worry about today's date, even.at six minutes and six seconds past six!

AS a slave to superstition, June Dumas has been dreading today for most of her life.
Not only is the date 6/6/6 - supposedly the 'Devil's number'. It is also her 66th birthday. And for good measure, she says, she was born at 6am weighing 61b 60z.
'I have got a funny feeling it could be my expiry date,' said Mrs Dumas, a widow, from Hove, Sussex. 'When my mother was alive she told me on that day I should not get in the car or even go out.'
Her fear is based on a disputed passage from the Book of Revelation 13:18 which declares 'the number of the beast' to be 666.
In the 1976 horror movie The Omen, the Devil's child, Damien, is born with a 666 birthmark at the nape of his neck. A remake goes into the cinemas today.
Mrs Dumas said her late mother was a psychic. 'She accurately predicted my father's death and the death of my husband so I'm not taking any chances.
'She always said, "Watch that date" with a strange look on her face. Some people may say I'm being silly but you shouldn't mess with this sort of thing.
'When I look at-my birth certificate all the sixes leap out at me. It does make me feel very nervous.'
Mrs Dumas added yesterday that she follows the advice given in horoscopes, makes a point of never walking under ladders and always salutes magpies.
'One thing I certainly won't be doing is going out in the car tomorrow. I've already got nine points on my licence. I'm terrible, I'm always having accidents.' "

Why there should have been exactly 153 fishes in the net is a question which has puzzled commentators from the earliest times. Obviously the number had an esoteric significance, and by reference to the sacred canon of number and geometry this may be discovered. The parables and many of the episodes in the New Testament form the literary expressions of geometrical processes. This is particularly clear in the case of the 153 fishes."

As I left the King's Chamber, however, I could not forget that it was located in line with the 50th course of the Great Pyramid's masonry at a height of almost 150 feet above the ground.' This meant, as Flinders Petrie pointed out with some astonishment, that the builders had managed to place it 'at the level where the vertical section of the Pyramid was halved, where the area of the horizontal section was half that of the base, where the diagonal from corner to corner was equal to the length of the base, and where the width of the face was equal to half the diagonal of the base'.'
Confidently and efficiently fooling around with more than six million tons of stone, creating galleries and chambers and shafts and corridors more or less at will, achieving near-perfect symmetry, near-perfect right angles, and near-perfect alignments to the cardinal points, the mysterious builders of the Great Pyramid had found the time to play a great many other tricks as well with the dimensions of the vast monument.
Why did their minds work this way? What had they been trying to say or do? And why, so many thousands of years after it was built, did the monument still exert a magnetic influence upon so many people, from so many different walks of life, who came into contact with it?
There was a Sphinx in the neighbourhood, so I decided that I would put these riddles to it . . .

The Grand Gallery had its mysteries too. Indeed it was among the most mysterious of all the internal features of the Great Pyramid. Measuring 6 feet 9 inches wide at the floor, its walls rose vertically to a height of 7 feet 6 inches; above that level seven further courses of masonry (each one projecting inwards some 3 inches beyond the course immediately below it) carried the vault to its full height of 28 feet and its culminating width of 3 feet 5 inches.'
Remember that structurally the Gallery was required to support, for ever, the multi-million ton weight of the upper three-quarters of the largest and heaviest stone monument ever built on planet earth. Was it not quite remarkable that a group of supposed 'technological primitives' had not only envisaged and designed such a feature but had completed it successfully, more than 4500 years before our time?
Even if they had made the Gallery only 20 feet long, and had sought to erect it on a level plane, the task would have been difficult enough indeed extraordinarily difficult. But they had opted to erect this astonishing corbel vault at a slope of 26°, and to extend its length to a staggering 153 feet.24

WITH THE FINAL CLOSING OF THE ANTECHAMBER, the portcullises are down. There is no turning back. From now on humanity's path lies unremittingly forward:
And it leads initially through the low, final section of the King's Chamber passage.
Square in cross section, this last horizontal corridor is 41.21 P" wide and high. Unlike the original part of the passage, however, it now passes entirely through granite. Still built on the Pyramid's 50th course of masonry, and thus 153 courses below its summit platform, it is 101.04629 P" long. In combination with the earlier portion, therefore, the total length of the two low corridors itself works out at 153.07503 P" (code equivalent: 153). The symbolic dating for the final entry into the King's Chamber is thus 2nd July 2989. Just to the west, meanwhile, the last, horizontal stretch of the King's Chamber's northern 'air shaft' runs directly in parallel (see diagram page 176).
The route towards final enlightenment for terrestrial mortals is now an accompanied one that lies unremittingly forward through a non-terrestrial environment for 490 years.

In short, the great Space Odyssey will have begun - and it will be undertaken in the company of the Elohim themselves. We shall be looking at the detailed implications in due course.
Meanwhile the upper path has reached its climax with the final entry into the King's Chamber. Built entirely of granite, this is a positive Aladdin's cave of brilliant mathematics. Not only do the walls consist of 5 courses of masonry comprising exactly 100 stones, while the roof is spanned by 9 huge granite beams (all of them now cracked). Not only does its south wall lie exactly 365.24235 P" beyond the midpoint of the antechamber. With its breadth from north to south of 10 royal cubits, its length from east to west of 20 Royal Cubits and its height of 230.3871 P", the largest triangle that can be inserted into the chamber (comprising length, end -diagonal and cubic diagonal) has exactly the 'Pythagorean' ratio of 3:4:5.

Message in a Bottle?

Together with the ancient texts and rituals that are linked to them, could the vast monuments of the Giza necropolis have been designed to transmit a message from one culture to another - a message not across space, but across time?
Egyptologists reply to such questions by rolling their eyes and hooting derisively. Indeed they would not be 'Egyptologists' (or at any rate they could not long remain within that profession) if they reacted with anything other than scorn and disbelief to suggestions that the necropolis might be more than a cemetery, that the Great Sphinx might significantly predate the epoch of 2500 BC, and that the Pyramids might not be just 'royal tombs'. By the same token, no self-respecting Egyptologist would be prepared to consider, even for a moment, the outlandish possibility that some sort of mysterious `message' might have been encoded into the monuments.
So whom should we turn to for advice when confronted by what we suspect may be a message from a civilization so far distant from us in time as to be almost unknowable?
Anti-cipher
The only scientists actively working on such problems today are those involved in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence - SETI for /Page 253/ short.- They endlessly sweep the heavens for messages from distant civilizations and they have therefore naturally had to give some thought to what might happen if they ever- did identify such a message. According to Dr Philip Morisson of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology:
To begin with we would know very little about it. If we received it we would not understand what we're getting. But we would have an unmistakable signal, full of structure, full of challenge. The best people would try to decode it, and it will be easy to do because those who have constructed i(would have made it easy to decode, otherwise there's no point. This is anti-cryptography: 'I want to make a message for you, who never got in touch with any symbols of mine, no key no clue, nevertheless you'll be able to read it . . I would have to fill it full of clues and unmistakable clever devices . . .1

In his book, Cosmos, Professor Carl Sagan of Cornell University makes much the same point — and does so, curiously enough, with reference to the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic system. He explains that the 'Egyptian hieroglyphics are, in significant part, a simple substitution cipher. But not every hieroglyph is a letter or syllable. Some are pictographs . . .' When it came to translation, this 'mix of letters and pictographs caused some grief for interpreters . . In the early nineteenth century, however, a breakthrough was made by the French scholar Champollion who deciphered the famous 'Rosetta Stone', a slab of black basalt bearing identical inscriptions in Egyptian hieroglyphics and in Greek. Since Champollion could read the Greek, all he needed was some kind of 'key' to relate specific hieroglyphs to specific Greek words or letters. This key was provided by the constant repetition in the Greek text of the name of Pharaoh Ptolemy V and an equal number of repetitions in the Egyptian text of a distinctive oblong enclosure — known as a cartouche — containing a repeated group of hieroglyphs. As Sagan comments:
The cartouches were the key . . . almost as though the Pharaohs of Egypt had circled their own names to make the going easier for Egyptologists two thousand years in the future . . . What a joy it must have been [for Champollion] to open this one-way communication channel with another civilization, to permit a culture that had been /Page 254/
mute for millennia to speak of its history, magic, medicine, religion, politics and philosophy.2
Professor Sagan then offers a comparison that is highly apposite to our present inquiry. 'Today,' he says:
we are again seeking messages from an ancient and exotic civilization, this time hidden from us not only in time, but in space. If we should receive a radio message from an extraterrestrial civilization, how could it possibly be understood? Extraterrestrial intelligence will be elegant, complex, internally consistent and utterly alien. Extraterrestrials would, of course, wish to make a message sent to us as comprehensible as possible. But how could they? Is there in any sense an interstellar Rosetta Stone? We believe there is a common language that all technical civilizations, no matter how different, must have. That common language is science and mathematics. The laws of Nature are the same everywhere.3
It seems to us that if there is indeed a very ancient 'message' at Giza then it is likely to be expressed in the language of science and mathematics that Sagan identifies — and for the same reason. Moreover, given its need to continue 'transmitting' coherently across thousands of years (and chasms of cultural change), we think that the composer of such a message would be likely to make use of the Precession of the Equinoxes, the one particular 'law of Nature' that can be said to govern, and measure — and identify — long periods of terrestrial time.
Durable vehicles
The Pyramids and the Great Sphinx at Giza are, above all else, as elegant, as complex, as internally consistent and as utterly 'alien' as the extraterrestrial intelligence that Sagan envisages (alien in the sense of the tremendous, almost superhuman scale of these structures and of their uncanny — and in our terms apparently unnecessary — precision).
Moreover, returning briefly to Dr Philip Morisson's remarks quoted earlier, we think that the Giza necropolis also qualifies rather well for the description 'packed full of clues and unmistakable clever devices'.4 Indeed, it seems to us that a truly astonishing quantum of /Page 255/ ingenuity was invested by the Pyramid builders to ensure that the four fundamental aspects of an 'unmistakable' message were thoroughly elaborated here:
1 the creation of durable, unequivocal markers which could serve as beacons to inflame the curiosity and engage the intelligence of future generations of seekers;
2 the use of the 'common language' of precessional astronomy;
3 the use of precessional co-ordinates to signal specific time-referents linking past to present and present to future;
4 Cunningly concealed store-rooms, or 'Halls of Records' that could only be found and entered by those who were fully initiated in the 'silent language' and thus could read and follow its clues.
In addition, though the monuments are enabled to 'speak' from the moment that their astronomical context is understood, we have also to consider the amazing profusion of funerary texts that have come down to us from all periods of Egyptian history - all apparently emanating from the same very few common sources.5 As we have seen, these texts operate like 'software' to the monuments' `hard charting the route that the Horus-King (and all other future seekers must follow.
We recall a remark made by Giorgio de Santillana Hertha von Dechend in Hamlet's Mill to the effect that the great strength of myths as vehicles for specific technical information is that they are capable of transmitting that information independently of the knowledge of individual story-tellers.6 In other words as long as a myth continues to be told true, it will also continue to transmit any higher message that may be concealed within its structure - even if neither the teller nor the hearer understands that message.
So, too, we suspect, with the ancient Egyptian funerary texts. We would be surprised if, the owners of many of the coffins and tomb walls onto which they were copied had even the faintest inkling that specific astronomical observations and directions were being duplicated at their expense. What motivated them was precisely what the texts offered - the lure of immortal life. Yet by taking that lure did they not in fact guarantee a kind of immortality for the texts themselves? Did they not ensure that so many faithful copies would /Page 256 /
be made that some at least would be bound to survive for many thousands of years?
We think that there were always people who understood the true `science of immortality' connected to the texts, and who were able to. read the astronomical allegories in which deeper secrets, not granted to the common herd, lay concealed. We presume that these people were once called the 'Followers of Horus', that they operated as an invisible college behind the scenes in Egyptian prehistory and history, that their primary cult centre was at Giza-Heliopolis, and that they were responsible for the initiation of kings and the realization of blueprints. We also think that the timetables they worked to — and almost everything of significance that they did — was in one way or another written in the stars.
Hints and memories
The powerfully astronomical character of the Giza necropolis, although ignored by Egyptologists, has been recognized by open-minded and intuitive researchers throughout history. The Hermetic Neoplatonists of Alexandria, for example, appear to have been acutely sensitive to the possibility of a 'message' and were quick to discern the strong astral qualities of the textual material and the monuments.7 The scholar Proclus (fifth century AD) also acknowledged that the Great Pyramid was astronomically designed — and with certain specific stars in mind. Indeed, in his commentary on Plato's Timaeus (which deals with the story of the lost civilization of 'Atlantis'), Proclus reported strangely that 'the Great Pyramid was used as an observation for Sirius'.8
Vague memories of an astronomically constructed 'message' at Giza appear to have filtered down to the Middle Ages. At any rate the Arab chroniclers in this period spoke of the Great Pyramid as 'a temple to the stars' and frequently connected it to the Biblical 'Flood' which they dated to circa 10,300 BC.9 Also of relevance is a report written by the Arab geographer Yakut al Hamawi (eleventh century an) to the effect that the star-worshippers of Harran, the Sabians (whose 'holy books' were supposedly the writings of Thoth-Hermes) came at that time on special pilgrimages to the Pyramids at Giza.'

For Leibniz, the difficulty in generalizing from samples of information arises from nature's complexity, not from its waywardness. He believed that there is too much going on for us to figure it all out by studying a set of finite experiments, but, like most of his contemporaries, he was convinced that there was an underlying order to the whole process, ordained by the Almighty. The missing part to which he alluded with "only for the most part" was not random but an invisible element of the whole structure.
Three hundred years later, Albert Einstein struck the same note. In a famous comment that appeared in a letter to his fellow-physicist Max Born, Einstein declared, "You believe in a God who plays with dice, and I in complete law and order in a world which objectively exists."2
Bernoulli and Einstein may be correct that God does not play with dice, but, for better or for worse and in spite of all our efforts, human beings do not enjoy complete knowledge of the laws that define the order of the objectively existing world.
Bernoulli and Einstein were scientists concerned with the behavior of the natural world, but human beings must contend with the behavior of something beyond the patterns of nature: themselves. Indeed, as civilization has pushed forward, nature's vagaries have mattered less and the decisions of people have mattered more.
Yet the growing interdependence of humanity was not a concern to any of the innovators in this story until we come to Knight and Keynes in the twentieth century. Most of these men lived in the late Renaissance, the Enlightenment, or the Victorian age, and so they thought about probability in terms of nature and visualized human beings as acting with the same degree of regularity and predictability as they found in nature."

Like Spinoza, Einstein was a strict determinist who believed that human behavior was completely determined by causal laws. For that reason, he refused the chance aspect of quantum theory, famously telling Niels Bohr: "God does not play dice with the universe."[27] In letters sent to physicist Max Born, Einstein revealed his devout belief in causal relationships:
You believe in a God who plays dice, and I in complete law and order in a world which objectively exists, and which I in a wildly speculative way, am trying to capture. "We must return to the treatise 'The Virgin of the World'. This treatise is quite explicit in saying that Isis and Osiris were sent to help the Earth by giving primitive mankind the arts of civilization:
And Horus thereon said:
'How was it, mother, then, that Earth received God's Efflux?' And Isis said:
'I may not tell the story of (this) birth; for it is not permitted to describe the origin of thy descent, O Horus (son) of mighty power, lest afterwards the way-of-birth of the immortal gods should be known unto men - except so far that God the Monarch, the universal Orderer and Architect, sent for a little while thy mighty sire Osiris, and the mightiest goddess Isis, that they might help the world, for all things needed them.
'Tis they who filled life full of life. 'Tis they who caused the savagery of mutual slaughtering of men to cease. 'Tis they who hallowed precincts to the Gods their ancestors and spots for holy rites. 'Tis they who gave to men laws, food and shelter.' Etc."
They are also described as teaching men how to care for the dead in a
specifically Egyptian way, which inclines one to wonder how a Greek could conceivably have written this unless during the Ptolemaic period: "Tis they who taught men how to wrap up those who ceased to live, as they should be.'
Now anyone knows this is Egyptian and not Greek practice. What Neoplatonist would include such a statement unless it were actually taken from an early source which he used, and which had been written by someone actually living in Egypt?
The treatise ends this long section with:
' 'Tis they alone who, taught by Hermes in God's hidden codes, became the authors of the arts, and sciences, and all pursuits which men do practise, and givers of their laws.
, 'Tis they who, taught by Hermes that the things below have been disposed by God to be in sympathy with things above, established on the earth the sacred rites over which the mysteries in Heaven preside. [The absence here of a blatant propaganda for astrology argues a pre-Ptolemaic date for this treatise; after the Greek and Babylonian influx a mild statement like this would have been almost impossible to make without the author dragging in all the paraphernalia of the astrology-craze of late Egypt.]

"Tis they who, knowing the destructibility of (mortal) frames, devised the grade of prophets, in all things perfected, in order that no prophet who stretched forth his hands unto the Gods, should be in ignorance of anything, that magic and philosophy should feed the soul, and medicine preserve the body when it suffered pain.
'And having done all this, my son, Osiris and myself perceiving that the world was (now) quite full, were thereupon demanded back by those who dwell in Heaven . . .'
And in the treatise Isis claims that the 'Black Rite' honours her and 'gives perfection'. It is also concerned with the mysterious thing called 'Night' 'who weaves her web with rapid light though it be less than Sun's'. It is made plain that 'Night' is not the night sky because it moves in. the Heaven along with 'the other mysteries in turn that move in Heaven, with ordered motions
and with periods of times, with certain hidden influences bestowing order on the things below and co-increasing them'.
We xpust scrutinize the description of what is labelled 'Night' in this treatise. This description makes it perfectly clear that 'Night' is not 'night', but a code word. For it is said to have 'light though it be less than Sun's'. The dark companion of Sirius is a star and has light, though less than the sun. Also 'Night' is said 'to weave her web with rapid light' which specifically describes the object as being in motion. Since Sirius B orbits Sirius A in fifty years, it moves more rapidly even than three of our sun's planets in our own solar system - Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus. Of these three, Uranus is the most rapid, and its orbit about the sun takes eighty-four years. So here is a star orbiting more rapidly than a planet! That may indeed be said to constitute 'weaving a web with rapid
light' !

"Mead quotes an Egyptian magic papyrus, this being an uncontested Egyptian document which he compares to a passage in the Trismegistic literature: 'I invoke thee, Lady Isis, with whom the Good Daimon doth unite, He who is Lord in the perfect black. '37
We know that Isis is identified with Sirius A, and here we may have a / Page 74 / description of her star-companion 'who is Lord in the perfect black', namely the invisible companion with whom she is united, Sirius B.
Mead, of course, had no inkling of the Sirius question. But he cited this magic papyrus in order to shed comparative light on some extraordinary passages in a Trismegistic treatise he translated which has the title 'The Virgin of the World'. In his comments on the magic papyrus Mead says: 'It is natural to make the Agathodaimon ("the Good Daimon") of the Papyrus refer to Osiris; for indeed it is one of his most frequent designations. Moreover, it is precisely Osiris who is pre-eminently connected with the so-called "underworld", the unseen world, the "mysterious dark". He is lord there. . . and indeed one of the ancient mystery-sayings was precisely, "Osiris is a dark God." ,
'The Virgin of the World' is an extraordinary Trismegistic treatise in the form of a dialogue between the hierophant (high priest) as spokesman for Isis and the neophyte who represents Horus. Thus the priest instructing the initiate is portrayed as Isis instructing her son Horus.
The treatise begins by claiming it is 'her holiest discourse' which 'so speaking Isis doth pour forth'. There is, throughout, a strong emphasis on the hierarchical principle of lower and higher beings in the universe - that earthly mortals are presided over at intervals by other, higher, beings who interfere in Earth's affairs when things here become hopeless, etc. Isis says in the treatise: 'It needs must, therefore, be the less should give place to the greater mysteries.' What she is to disclose to Horus is a great mystery. Mead describes it as the mystery practised by the arch-hierophant. It was the degree (here 'degree' is in the sense of 'degree' in the Masonic 'mysteries', which are hopelessly garbled and watered-down versions of genuine mysteries of earlier times) 'called the "Dark Mystery" or "Black Rite". It was a rite performed only for those who were judged worthy of it after long probation in lower degrees, something of a far more sacred character, apparently, than the instruction in the mysteries enacted in the light.'
Mead adds: 'I would suggest, therefore, that we have here a reference to the most esoteric institution of the Isiac tradition. . .', Isiac meaning of course 'Isis-tradition', and not to be confused with the Book of Isaiah in the Bible (so that perhaps it is best for us not to use the word-form 'Isiac').
It is in attempting to explain the mysterious 'Black Rite' of Isis at the highest degree of the Egyptian mysteries that Mead cited the magic papyrus which I have already quoted. He explains the 'Black Rite' as being connected with Osiris being a 'dark god' who is 'Lord of the perfect black' which is 'the unseen world, the mysterious black'.
This treatise 'The Virgin of the World' describes a personage called Hermes who seems to represent a race of beings who taught earthly mankind the arts of civilization after which: 'And thus, with charge unto his kinsmen of the Gods to keep sure watch, he mounted to the Stars'.
According to this treatise mankind have been a troublesome lot requiring scrutiny and, at rare intervals of crisis, intervention.
After Hermes left Earth to return to the stars there was or were in Egypt someone or some people designated as 'Tat' (Thoth) who were initiates into the celestial mysteries."

"Bearing these books in mind (and I am sure they are there waiting underground like a time bomb for us), it is interesting to read this passage in 'The Virgin of the World' following shortly upon that previously quoted:
The sacred symbols of the cosmic elements were hid away hard by the secrets of Osiris. Hermes, ere he returned to Heaven, invoked a spell on them, and spake these words: . . . 'O holy books, who have been made by my immortal hands, by incorruption's magic spells. . . (at this point there is a lacuna as the text is hopeless) . . . free from decay throughout eternity remain and incorrupt from time! Become unseeable, unfindable, for every one whose foot shall tread the plains of this land, until old Heaven doth bring forth meet instruments for you, whom the Creator shall call souls.'
Thus spake he; and, laying spells on them by means of his own works, he shut them safe away in their own zones. And long enough the time has been since they were hid away.
In the treatise the highest objective of ignorant men searching for the truth
is described as: '(Men) will seek out. . . the inner nature of the holy spaces which no foot may tread, and will chase after them into the height, desiring to observe the nature of the motion of the Heaven.
'These are as yet moderate things. For nothing more remains than Earth's remotest realms; nay, in their daring they will track out Night, the farthest Night of all.'"

"According to the treatise, after these moderate things we shall 'in our daring' even learn the greatest secret. . . we shall discover 'Night'. And the meaning of the 'Dark Rite' will become clear. And as this rite and this mystery concern Isis and the star Sirius and by the context of this prophecy clearly concerns the heavens, can we be accused of sensationalism in making the suggestion that nothing would shake up the human race more than having the discovery of intelligent life elsewhere in the universe proven for the first time? And what if the dark companion of Sirius really does hold the answer to this mystery? What if the nearest centre of civilization really is based at the Sirius system and keeps a watchful eye on us from time to time? What if this is proven by our detecting on our radio telescopes actual traces of local radio communica.. tions echoing down those nine light years of space in the vast spreading ripple of disintegrating signals that any culture remotely near to us in development would be bound to dribble forth into the surrounding universe? What if this happens ? It will be like the sky falling in, won't it?

sounds like the invisible Sirius B. Isis's companion Osiris 'is a dark god'.
The Trismegistic treatise 'The Virgin of the World' from Egypt refers to 'the Black Rite', connected with the 'black' Osiris, as the highest degree of secret initiation possible in the ancient Egyptian religion - it is the ultimate secret of the mysteries of Isis.
This treatise says Hermes came to earth to teach men civilization and then again 'mounted to the stars', going back to his home and leaving behind the mystery religion of Egypt with its celestial secrets which were some day to be decoded.
There is evidence that 'the Black Rite' did deal with astronomical matters. Hence the Black Rite concerned astronomical matters, the black Osiris, and Isis. The evidence mounts that it may thus have concerned the existence of Sirius B.
A prophecy in the treatise 'The Virgin of the World' maintains that only when men concern themselves with the heavenly bodies and 'chase after them into the height' can
men hope to understand the subject-matter of the Black Rite. The understanding of astronomy of today's space age now qualifies us to comprehend the true subject of the Black Rite, if that subject is what we suspect it may be. This was impossible earlier in the history of our planet. It must be remembered that without our present knowledge of white dwarf stars which are invisible except with modern telescopes, our knowledge of super-dense matter from atomic physics with all its complicated technology, etc., none
of our discussion of the Sirius system would be possible; it would not be possible to propose such an explanation of the Black Rite at all- we could not propound the Sirius question. Much material about the Sumerians and Babylonians has only been circulated since the late 1950S and during the 1960s, and our knowledge of pulsars is even more recent than that. It is doubtful that this book could have been written much earlier than the present. The author began work in earnest in 1967 and finished the book in 1974. Even so, he feels the lack of much needed information: sites remain unexcavated, texts untranslated from various ancient languages, astronomical investigations are perpetually incomplete. The author has also found it difficult to master material from so many different fields and wishes he were much better qualified. The Sirius question could not realistically have been posed much earlier, and future discoveries in many fields will be essential to its full consideration."
